Islamabad, Apr 12 (V7N) – Iran has urged the United States not to impose what it called “excessive and illegal” demands, as high-level peace talks between the two countries ended without an agreement.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghai told local media that the success of negotiations depends on the “honesty and goodwill” of the opposing side. He stressed the need for recognition of Iran’s legitimate rights and national interests.
The remarks came after US Vice President JD Vance said the talks in Islamabad concluded without any breakthrough, as Iran did not agree to the conditions set by Washington.
In a post-talk briefing, Vance said the United States had clearly outlined its position and the issues on which it was unwilling to compromise. However, Tehran did not accept those terms, resulting in a deadlock.
The outcome highlights the deep divisions between the two sides on key issues, despite ongoing diplomatic efforts to end the conflict and reduce regional tensions.
