Washington, Apr 21 (V7N) — Donald Trump has claimed that Iran’s uranium enrichment and storage facilities were “completely destroyed” in a US-led raid conducted last June, saying recovery efforts would now be “long and difficult.”

Trump’s statement

In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump wrote that “Operation Midnight Hammer” was designed to fully eliminate Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. He added that excavating the affected sites would require significant time and effort.

He also accused several media outlets, including CNN, of downplaying the operation and failing to properly acknowledge the role of US military pilots involved.

Trump further claimed that Iran had agreed in principle to remove nuclear materials from its territory.

Iran’s response

Iranian officials strongly rejected these claims, reiterating that the country will not surrender or transfer its nuclear materials abroad.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghai said Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile will not be handed over to the United States or any other country under any circumstances.

He emphasized that Iran’s nuclear program is a matter of national dignity and scientific achievement, stating that:

  • The issue has never been part of any negotiation

  • Iran’s nuclear knowledge is a domestic accomplishment

  • Nuclear capabilities will be preserved within the country

Baghai added that Iran considers its nuclear resources part of national wealth and will not compromise on what it sees as its sovereign rights.

Ongoing tensions

The exchange of statements comes amid continuing diplomatic and military tensions between Washington and Tehran, with both sides maintaining sharply opposing positions on nuclear policy and regional security issues.
