Washington, D.C., Apr 26 (V7N)- The suspect involved in the shooting incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner has been identified as Cole Tomas Allen, a 31-year-old teacher and video game developer from Torrance, California, according to multiple US media reports including CNN.

The incident took place on Saturday night (April 25) at the Washington Hilton, where gunfire near a security checkpoint caused panic among attendees and led to the evacuation of high-profile guests, including President Donald Trump. Authorities confirmed that the suspect was quickly taken into custody and is believed to have acted alone.

According to available records, Allen worked as a part-time teacher at C2 Education, where he was recognized as “Teacher of the Month” in December 2024.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from California Institute of Technology (2017) and later completed a master’s degree in computer science from California State University, Dominguez Hills.

Allen had also gained local attention in 2017 for developing a prototype emergency brake for wheelchairs during his student years.

Federal records show that he donated $25 to the 2024 campaign of Kamala Harris.

He also identified himself as a video game developer and created an indie game titled “Boredom,” which is available on the Steam platform.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the motive behind the attack. Officials have stated that the situation is under control and that security responses helped prevent further casualties.
