Tehran, May 07 (V7N) — Iranian Parliament Speaker Bagher Ghalibaf has sharply criticized the United States over reports of a possible agreement between Washington and Iran, accusing American media and officials of spreading “fake operations” and misinformation.
In a post on social media platform X on Thursday (May 7), Ghalibaf mocked what he described as the failure of a so-called “Operation Trust Me Bro,” claiming the U.S. had returned to what he sarcastically called “Operation Foxios,” a reference aimed at Axios.
According to Iranian media outlet Tasnim News Agency, Ghalibaf alleged that Axios had spread false reports suggesting the two countries were close to reaching a one-page memorandum of understanding to formally end the ongoing conflict.
Axios had earlier reported that negotiations mediated by Pakistan were progressing and that a proposed 14-point memorandum was under discussion between the two sides.
Ghalibaf claimed the reports reflected misleading propaganda and questioned the credibility of U.S. intelligence and media narratives during the continuing regional tensions.
The conflict between Iran, the United States, and Israel intensified after military operations launched on February 28. In the aftermath, Iran carried out large-scale missile and drone attacks targeting U.S. and Israeli positions and imposed restrictions on maritime movement through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
