Tehran, May 13 (V7N) – A 4.6-magnitude earthquake struck near the Iranian capital Tehran on Tuesday night, shaking several eastern areas of the city and nearby regions in Mazandaran province, according to preliminary reports from Iran’s earthquake monitoring center.
The earthquake occurred at approximately 8:16 p.m. local time near the city of Pardis, east of Tehran. Officials said the quake originated at a depth of 10 kilometers beneath the surface.
The epicenter was located along the border area between Tehran and Mazandaran provinces, around 41 kilometers from Tehran and 77 kilometers from Karaj.
Tremors were felt across multiple districts east of Tehran as well as neighboring cities in Mazandaran province, causing concern among residents. However, authorities have not reported any casualties or major structural damage so far.
Emergency response teams and local officials continue to monitor the situation.
