Washington, May 18 (V7N) — Donald Trump has issued a strong warning to Iran, urging the country to act quickly amid stalled negotiations over its nuclear program, according to a statement posted on his social media platform Truth Social.

Trump said that “time is ticking” and warned that Iran “must move fast or they will have nothing left,” emphasizing that urgency is critical as diplomatic talks continue to stall.

His remarks come as efforts to resolve tensions over Iran’s nuclear activities remain deadlocked. Earlier, Trump had suggested he could support a long-term freeze—up to 20 years—on Iran’s nuclear program as part of a potential agreement.

He also previously warned that failure to reach a deal could result in “severe consequences,” while describing the current ceasefire situation as being on “life support” following disagreements with Tehran.

According to Iranian media reports, including the semi-official Mehr News Agency, Washington has not offered meaningful concessions in response to Iran’s latest proposals, further slowing negotiations.

The United States and Israel have been engaged in heightened tensions with Iran, including reported military strikes earlier this year, though the ceasefire framework remains partially in place despite intermittent escalations.

Iran continues to maintain strategic influence over the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping route through which a significant portion of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas passes. Any disruption in the region has contributed to volatility in global energy markets.

Meanwhile, diplomatic mediation efforts—reportedly involving regional actors such as Pakistan—are ongoing, though analysts say a major gap remains between the positions of both sides.
