Tehran, May 19 (V7N) — Amid ongoing regional ceasefire developments, the government of Iran has organized a large-scale mass wedding ceremony for 1,000 couples in the capital, according to a report by Al Jazeera on Tuesday (May 19).

The ceremony was held in Tehran on May 18, 2026, combining traditional marriage rituals with state-organized cultural and symbolic elements.

Officials said the event featured national flags, portraits, and patriotic displays. In several parts of the ceremony, military vehicles decorated with flowers and balloons were used as wedding transport instead of conventional luxury cars, drawing widespread attention.

At Imam Hossein Square, one of the main venues, around 110 couples were officially married during a central ceremony. Organizers described the event as both a social initiative and a symbolic celebration of national unity.

Reports also noted the presence of military-themed displays, including domestically produced defense equipment showcased during the event, which further highlighted the state-backed nature of the ceremony.

The large-scale wedding comes at a time of heightened geopolitical tensions in the region, although a temporary ceasefire has been reported in ongoing international discussions.
