A final ruling on South Africa's claim regarding Israeli genocide in Gaza has been scheduled by the International Court of Justice (ICJ). On Friday, January 26, the ICJ will make a decision on this case. It will be decided at 1 p.m. local time whether or not to order immediate action against Tel Aviv.

In a press release posted on social media X (formerly Twitter), ICJ made this information public.

On the question of whether Israel committed genocide in Gaza, the International Court of Justice will not, however, rule. Only immediate actions pertaining to Israel will be decided upon.

To hold Tel Aviv responsible for the assault and atrocities in Gaza, South Africa filed a complaint at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on December 29. The case was heard by the court for two days earlier this month. During the hearing, South Africa asked the court to give Israel an immediate injunction to cease its armed activities in Gaza. Furthermore, it is demanded that the rights guaranteed to the Palestinian people under the Genocide Convention be upheld.

It should be mentioned that since October 7, 25,700 individuals have died as a result of the ongoing Israeli attack in Gaza. In addition, 63,740 persons suffered injuries. However, the Israeli government claims that 1,139 individuals have lost their lives as a result of Hamas strikes to date.
