West Bank, July 2, 2024 — Israeli soldiers forcibly tied two wounded Palestinians to the bonnet of an army jeep during a military operation in the occupied West Bank, the BBC reported on Monday. The incident has sparked international outrage after video footage went viral on social media last week.

The two Palestinians, Mujahid Abadi Balas (23) and Samir Dabaya (25), recounted their harrowing experience to the BBC. They described how Israeli soldiers lifted them onto the bonnet of a jeep and drove them down a village road, sometimes speeding up and sometimes slowing down.

Samir Dabaya, who is currently being treated at a hospital in Jenin, stated that he was shot in the back by Israeli forces during the Jabariyat operation. After lying on the ground for several hours, the soldiers checked for survivors and then beat them again with guns before eventually tying them to the jeep.

The Israeli army, under significant pressure, acknowledged that their soldiers had broken protocol by tying the injured Palestinians to the front of the vehicle. The incident has led to widespread condemnation and calls for accountability.

This latest development highlights the ongoing tensions and human rights concerns in the occupied West Bank, drawing further attention to the treatment of Palestinians during military operations.
