Farmers in Pirojpur's southern district lack a sophisticated understanding of sunflower production, and while few have expressed interest in it, many have begun growing it professionally after learning about its potential for financial success.
Perhaps this is why sunflowers gets its name:

The vitamin E in sunflower oil has antioxidants that help with premature aging and wrinkles, keeping your skin looking young and fresh. Sunflower oil also contains linoleic acid, which helps your skin retain moisture so it becomes less dry.A deficiency of vitamin E can cause nerve pain. Vitamin-E, from food sources is more effective than from a supplement.
It is well known that Mathbaria and Nazirpur upazilas in Pirojpur have more sunflower farming. Upon touring the sunflowers fields, the farmers revealed that a few of them had deliberately begun cultivating sunflowers since they were aware of the oil's nutritional benefits and commercial significance. Son of the late Munchur Ali Hawladar of Kalikabari village in Mathbaria, Md. Ismail Hawladar, stated: "He is cultivating sunflowers on his own initiative in the 17th century land, but he has to buy fertiliser kits at exorbitant prices and it is not working well."

Sunflowers are grown on 298 hectares in Mathbaria Upazila during the 2022–2023 fiscal year and 477 hectares during the 2023–2024 fiscal year.

Over the phone, Md. Nazrul Islam, the deputy director of the Agriculture Extension Directorate in Pirojpur, said Voice7 News that the amount of sunflowers grown grows every. Sunflower is grown on 681 hectares in the Pirojpur district in 2022–2023 and 942 hectares in 2023–2024.
Fertilizer seeds along with incentive support have been given to 3600 sunflower producers. He continued by saying that the nation's need for nutrient-rich sunflower oil could be mostly satisfied if farmers were urged to enhance government incentives on privately owned fallow areas.
