Sept 27, V7N- Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has identified a lack of goals as the main issue behind the team's disappointing start to the season. The frustration continued as United were held to a 1-1 draw by FC Twente in their Europa League opener, following a goalless Premier League draw with Crystal Palace.
Despite Christian Eriksen's early goal against Twente, a mistake by the midfielder allowed Sam Lammers to equalize in the second half. Ten Hag, in his third season at Old Trafford, stressed the need for his side to be more clinical, as they created 18 attempts against Twente and 15 against Palace without converting.
Ahead of a crucial clash with Tottenham, Ten Hag emphasized the importance of rediscovering United's scoring form. Although the team has managed three wins in eight matches this season, including victories over Southampton and Barnsley, the Dutchman insists it’s too early to judge his inconsistent side.
Ten Hag also pointed to the ongoing process of integrating young players like Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee into the squad, stressing the need for patience despite his own impatience for success. He remains focused on building for the future while aiming for more immediate results.
