Sept 28, V7N -Brazil head coach Dorival Jr has made it clear that Neymar will not be rushed back into the national team as the forward continues to recover from a severe knee injury. Neymar, who hasn't played since last year due to an ACL and meniscus injury, is undergoing rehabilitation after surgery. Dorival emphasized patience, stating that Neymar needs to regain full fitness and confidence before returning to the squad, whether it’s in October, November, or even next year.

Dorival also highlighted Neymar’s importance to the team, noting that his eventual return could see him play a key role during a pivotal time in his career and for Brazil's national team.

In Neymar's absence, Dorival has called up several new players for the October South American World Cup qualifiers, including forward Igor Jesus and defenders Abner and Vanderson. Brazil will face Chile on October 10 and then host Peru five days later as they aim to improve their position in the standings. Currently, the five-time world champions sit fifth in the qualification table for the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada.
