Oct 2, V7N- It seems unlikely that the Arizona Diamondbacks and left-handed pitcher Jordan Montgomery will continue their partnership into 2025. Following the team's elimination from playoff contention, Diamondbacks owner Ken Kendrick openly admitted regret over signing Montgomery during an appearance on the radio show "Burns & Gambo." Kendrick stated that pushing for Montgomery's acquisition last spring was a "horrible decision," adding that it was the team's "biggest mistake" from a talent standpoint this season.

Montgomery, who signed a one-year, $25 million contract with a player option for 2025, had a disappointing season with an 8-7 record and a 6.23 ERA over 25 games. Despite the challenging season, Montgomery has the option to remain with Arizona for another year, though Kendrick’s public criticism casts doubt on the likelihood of that happening.

Earlier in his career, Montgomery found more success with the New York Yankees, St. Louis Cardinals, and Texas Rangers, posting a career 4.03 ERA. He had a strong showing with Texas during the 2023 playoffs, helping them on their way to a World Series title.
