The match, originally scheduled for November 2, was delayed due to devastating flooding in the Valencia region, which caused over 220 deaths and widespread damage amounting to millions of euros.a

January 2 was the only feasible date for the rescheduling, given Real Madrid's busy schedule. The reigning European champions will participate in the Copa del Rey in early January, followed by their trip to Saudi Arabia for the Spanish Super Cup starting January 8.
