Paris, Mar 24 (V7N)- Legendary French footballer Zinedine Zidane is set to become the next head coach of the France national football team following the upcoming FIFA World Cup, according to a report by ESPN.
The report, confirmed on Monday (March 23), states that Zidane has reached a verbal agreement with the French Football Federation to take over the national side. If finalized, the 53-year-old will replace current head coach Didier Deschamps, who has been in charge since 2012.
Deschamps has enjoyed a highly successful tenure, leading France to back-to-back World Cup finals and securing the 2018 World Cup title.
Zidane, a 1998 Ballon d'Or winner, is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in football history. As a coach, he achieved remarkable success with Real Madrid, winning multiple major titles during two spells (2016–2018 and 2019–2021), including three consecutive UEFA Champions League trophies.
Long considered the natural successor to Deschamps, Zidane’s potential appointment marks a new chapter for French football as the team looks ahead to its post-World Cup future.
