Dhaka, Mar 24 (V7N)- The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast rain and thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds in several parts of the country.
In a warning issued for inland river ports from 3:00 pm to 1:00 am on Tuesday, the Met Office said that temporary gusty or squally winds with speeds of 45 to 60 km/h may sweep across the Rangpur, Mymensingh, Pabna, and Tangail regions. These conditions may be accompanied by rain or thundershowers.
Authorities have advised river ports in these areas to display warning signal number 1.
According to the Met Office’s 120-hour forecast, an extension of a low-pressure system lies over West Bengal and adjoining areas, while the seasonal low pressure remains over the south Bay of Bengal.
Due to this, one or two places in Rangpur Division, Mymensingh Division, and Sylhet Division may experience temporary gusty winds, rain, or thunderstorms accompanied by lightning.
In other parts of the country, the weather is expected to remain mainly dry with partly cloudy skies. However, both day and night temperatures may rise slightly nationwide, the Met Office added.
Authorities have urged people, especially those in affected regions, to remain cautious during adverse weather conditions.
