Western Australia convincingly defeated New South Wales to win the Marsh Cup one-day tournament for the third time in a row. Perth led by example in Sydney, thanks in large part to Hilton Cartwright's undefeated 73 and Joel Paris' outstanding 4-21 bowling numbers.

Opting to bowl first, WA skipper Sam Whiteman's decision paid dividends as NSW struggled to build momentum, eventually being bowled out for 169 runs in 42 overs. Paris' left-arm pace proved to be the highlight, with Andrew Tye and Ashton Agar also chipping in with crucial wickets. Despite Oliver Davies' resilient 51, NSW faltered, losing their last seven wickets for just 34 runs.

Even in the absence of star allrounder Aaron Hardie due to injury, Western Australia showcased their depth and resilience. Cartwright's brilliant knock of 73 off 80 balls guided them comfortably to the target, securing victory with five wickets in hand and a whopping 16.4 overs to spare.

This triumph marks Western Australia as only the second Australian state to achieve a hat-trick of one-day titles, a feat not accomplished in over two decades. Their dominance in the Marsh Cup reflects their formidable prowess in domestic cricket, setting a new benchmark for excellence in the sport. Meanwhile, New South Wales, despite their storied history, were unable to match WA's commanding performance on the day.
