Sylhet, Jan 10 (V7N)— Sabbir Rahman, the explosive batter from Rajshahi, showcased his fiery form with a remarkable 82 runs off just 33 balls against the Chittagong Kings in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Once a regular in the national team, Sabbir has been absent from the red-green jersey since November 2022, largely due to disciplinary issues. However, his recent performance signals a possible resurgence.

At a press conference held at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Sabbir shared his thoughts on making a return to the national team. Acknowledging his troubled past, he admitted to working hard to improve but hinted at challenges posed by those around him.

“With the name Sabbir Rahman, the issue of discipline naturally comes. I am trying to fix everything. However, some people around me may not be allowing me to do well,” he stated. “But I am not worried about these things at all. My job as a cricketer is to perform well, and for now, I am focused on that.”

Sabbir's explosive knock in the BPL could be a turning point for the cricketer, who has been inconsistent in domestic cricket over the past two years. Reflecting on his desire to return to international cricket, he expressed confidence in his fitness and performance.

“I am at a mixed stage of senior and young. I have also maintained my fitness. I believe the selectors will trust me again with a few good innings,” he added.

Sabbir Rahman made his international debut in 2014, earning caps in T20Is and ODIs, followed by a Test debut against England in 2016. His aggressive style of play has often been a highlight, but off-field controversies have overshadowed his career.

With his recent form, Sabbir aims to remind the cricketing world of his potential, hoping to once again don the national colours and contribute to Bangladesh cricket.
