Feb 19 (V7N) – Formula One’s governing body, the FIA, is set to introduce new pitstop rules to make the Monaco Grand Prix more exciting, aiming to reduce processional racing on the tight street circuit.

An F1 Commission meeting in London on Tuesday discussed "Monaco-specific regulations," with teams agreeing to increase the number of mandatory pitstops. The exact details are still under review, but the move is expected to force more strategy changes during the race.

"What we saw last year was that early red flags allowed teams to make a tyre change and cruise to the finish," said an FIA source. "Now, requiring at least two stops and the use of all three tyre compounds should create more unpredictability."

Overtaking in Monaco has been notoriously difficult, with qualifying often deciding the race outcome. Red Bull boss Christian Horner acknowledged the challenge, stating, "You can’t change the layout of the circuit, so we need to tweak the race format to keep things competitive."

In another rule change, the FIA announced the removal of gearbox usage limits, citing improved reliability in modern designs. Further discussions on the Monaco rule adjustments will take place in the coming weeks.
