Madrid, June 14 (V7N) — Spanish giants Real Madrid have secured the signing of highly-rated Argentine attacking midfielder Franco Mastantuono. The 17-year-old prodigy has agreed to a six-year contract with the European champions.

Real Madrid confirmed the transfer on their official website, announcing that the midfielder was signed from Argentine powerhouse River Plate. To finalize the deal, Madrid paid the full €45 million release clause — the highest transfer fee ever paid to an Argentine club.

Despite the agreement, Mastantuono will not immediately join Real Madrid. He will remain with River Plate for the time being and is expected to feature in the FIFA Club World Cup before officially making the move to Madrid upon turning 18 in August.

Franco Mastantuono has already made headlines in Argentina after making his senior international debut for the Albiceleste against Chile. For River Plate, he has scored 10 goals in 61 appearances, showcasing his attacking prowess and playmaking ability.

Real Madrid’s investment in Mastantuono reflects their continued commitment to signing the world’s best young talents, following in the footsteps of other South American acquisitions like Vinícius Jr., Rodrygo, and Endrick.
