Miami, June 19 (V7N) — Spanish giants Real Madrid were forced to settle for a draw against Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal in a friendly match held in Miami, Florida. It was a frustrating debut for Real’s new manager Xabi Alonso, as the match ended 1-1 after a missed penalty in the dying moments.
Al-Hilal started the game aggressively, testing Real’s defense with five shots within the first 10 minutes.
Despite the early pressure, Real Madrid took the lead in the 33rd minute, when Garcia converted a brilliant pass from Rodrygo to make it 1-0. However, their lead was short-lived. Just three minutes later, Ruben Neves equalized for Al-Hilal from the penalty spot.
Real Madrid pressed hard in the second half, creating several chances to retake the lead. Their golden opportunity came in the final minute when they were awarded a penalty. But Federico Valverde’s shot was brilliantly saved by Yassine Bounou (Bono), leaving Alonso and his team frustrated.
The match ended with both teams sharing the spoils, marking a bittersweet start to Xabi Alonso’s managerial journey with Los Blancos.
