Sydney, June 20 (V7N) — Former Australian Test captain Tim Paine has been appointed as the head coach of Australia A for the current season. Cricket Australia confirmed the appointment ahead of a busy schedule for the second-string national side.
Paine will take charge in three upcoming series, starting with Australia A’s tour of Sri Lanka beginning on July 4. The series will feature three 50-over matches and two four-day games, all to be played in Darwin.
Following the Sri Lanka tour, Australia A will travel to India in September and October for a full series featuring both red-ball and white-ball formats. The season will conclude with a four-day match against the England Lions, where Paine will also serve as head coach.
Paine, who previously worked as an assistant coach with both Australia A and the Australia Women’s team, also has experience in Cricket Australia’s media operations. Additionally, he is currently part of the coaching setup for the Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League.
This new role marks a significant step in Paine’s post-playing career as he continues to build his coaching credentials.
