Bagerhat, Aug 28 (V7N) – As part of the Youth Festival 2025 celebrations, a badminton tournament and prize distribution ceremony was held on Wednesday afternoon at the Officers’ Club premises, organized by the District Sports Office.
 
The event brought together 76 young athletes from 18 educational institutions across Bagerhat, competing in both boys' and girls' under-17 categories. The competition aimed to promote physical activity, healthy entertainment, and reduce digital dependency among students.
 
The prize distribution ceremony was presided over by Bagerhat Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer, (UNO) Mohammad Mustafizur Rahman, while District Sports Officer Hossain Ahmed conducted the event.
 
Deputy Commissioner Ahmed Kamrul Hasan was present as the chief guest and distributed prizes among the winners. In the girls’ category, Sammilani Secondary School secured the top position, while in the boys’ category, the title went to Boitpur Secondary School.
 
In his remarks, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of balancing academics with recreation, stating, “Events like this encourage students to engage in healthy entertainment alongside studies, helping to reduce mobile addiction.”
 
Among the special guests were Bhaskar Debnath Bappi, Chief Executive Officer of the District Council, and Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Md. Shamim Hossain. Bhaskar Debnath added, “Those who debate become excellent students, and those who play sports grow into healthy and responsible citizens.”
 
Also present at the event were Moinul Islam, Deputy Director of the District Information Office; representatives from the District Statistics Office; and Executive Magistrates from the district administration.
 
The Youth Festival 2025 aims to inspire the younger generation of Bagerhat through sports, creativity, and civic engagement.
