Madrid, Oct 20 (V7N)— Real Madrid reclaimed the top spot in La Liga after a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Getafe at the Coliseum Stadium on Sunday night. French superstar Kylian Mbappe once again proved decisive, scoring for the 11th consecutive match across club and country.
The match began on a cautious note, with both sides struggling to create clear chances in the opening half. Getafe’s compact defense frustrated Real Madrid’s attack, as the teams went into halftime locked at 0–0.
After the break, Carlo Ancelotti’s men increased their attacking intensity, pressing higher up the pitch. The momentum shifted in the 77th minute when Getafe defender Allan Nyom received a straight red card for elbowing Vinicius Jr.
Just three minutes later, Real Madrid capitalized on their numerical advantage. Mbappe, latching onto a clever pass from Eduardo Camavinga, cut inside the box and slotted the ball past the Getafe goalkeeper to give Real a 1–0 lead.
Getafe’s troubles deepened in the 84th minute when Alex Sancris received a second yellow card for a late challenge on Vinicius, reducing the hosts to nine men. With the numerical advantage and time running out, Real comfortably held on to secure all three points.
The victory takes Real Madrid to 24 points from 9 matches, pushing them back to the top of the La Liga table, two points clear of Barcelona, who sit second with 22 points from the same number of games.
With Mbappe in unstoppable form and the team showing resilience away from home, Los Blancos continue to look strong contenders in their pursuit of the La Liga title.
