"The local administration in Ruma upazila, located in a hilly district, has imposed restrictions on tourism following recent security concerns. Visitors are barred from booking hotel accommodations or exploring tourist spots until joint operations Concludes.

In response to recent security incidents, the local administration of Ruma upazila in Bandarban has issued directives discouraging tourism activities until further notice. The restrictions, outlined in a notification signed by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Didarul Alam on April 9th, prohibit tourists from booking hotel accommodations or visiting any tourist spots within the area. The directive also extends to transportation, with a ban on jeeps accessing tourist destinations and a prohibition on tourists being ferried via waterways in the upazila. These measures come in the wake of security threats, notably the April 2nd incident involving the looting of money from Ruma Upazila Sonali Bank by the Chattogram Hill Tracts-based Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF). Additionally, on April 3rd, robbers targeted banks in Thanchi upazila, exacerbating security concerns in the region. Authorities have taken swift action, with the arrest of 59 individuals allegedly involved in the robberies attributed to the KNF. As the joint operations continue to ensure the safety and security of the area, the local administration remains vigilant in enforcing measures to safeguard residents and visitors alike.
