Jalal Yunus, the Cricket Operations Chairman of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), has sparked controversy by suggesting that star pacer Mustafizur Rahman has nothing more to gain from playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Despite Mustafizur's impressive performance for the Chennai Super Kings, where he took 10 wickets in five matches, including a four-wicket haul, Jalal believes Mustafizur's learning process in the IPL is over.

BCB extended Mustafizur's IPL participation by one day to May 1, allowing him to join the national team camp on May 3. Jalal emphasized concerns about Mustafizur's health and fitness due to the demanding schedule of the IPL.

“Our concern is Mustafizur's health. His fitness. They (the IPL teams) will want to take 100% from him. They don't have a headache about his fitness, but we do,” Jalal explained. “What do we need? We need a fresh Mustafizur. We don't want an exhausted Mustafizur.”

Jalal's comments prompted a sarcastic response from prominent Bangladeshi cricket coach Mohammed Salah Uddin, who mocked the statement on social media.

This debate underscores the ongoing discussions surrounding player workload management and the balance between international commitments and participation in lucrative T20 leagues like the IPL.
