In the PGA Tour's RBC Heritage tournament, Collin Morikawa surged into a four-way tie for the lead after shooting a bogey-free 66 in the second round. Morikawa is joined at the top of the leaderboard by J.T. Poston, Tom Hoge, and Sepp Straka, all at 11-under par.
Morikawa's round included steady play and key birdie putts, starting with a birdie on the par-5 fourth hole. He followed that up with another birdie on the ninth after a precise approach shot. Despite not feeling at his best, Morikawa continued to capitalize on scoring opportunities, sinking birdie putts on the 11th and 12th holes, including a lengthy 36-foot putt.
Reflecting on his round, Morikawa emphasized his satisfaction with keeping a clean scorecard and minimizing mistakes. He credited his recent improvement to a better understanding of his game, particularly after refocusing during practice sessions.
Meanwhile, Masters champion Scottie Scheffler made a strong move with a 65, positioning himself just three shots behind the leaders heading into the weekend. Scheffler expressed contentment with his performance, noting that he felt capable of shooting even lower.
Another notable performer was Ludvig Aberg, who shot a bogey-free 66 to climb within one shot of the lead. Aberg, a rising star who turned professional last year, demonstrated patience and discipline throughout his round, finishing with a flourish by making birdies on four of his last six holes.
With the top of the leaderboard tightly packed, including world number one Scheffler and world number two Rory McIlroy within striking distance, the stage is set for an intriguing weekend of golf at the RBC Heritage tournament.
