In a thrilling day of T20 Cricket World Cup action, Scotland and the United States both secured memorable victories, showcasing their grit and determination.

Scotland Triumphs Over Namibia

Captain Richie Berrington's unbeaten 47 guided Scotland to a five-wicket victory over Namibia in their Group B game in Barbados. After their opening fixture was thwarted by the weather, Berrington's composed knock off 36 balls, featuring two fours and three sixes, combined with Michael Leask's aggressive 35 off 17 balls, propelled Scotland to a winning total of 155 for five with nine balls to spare. Their crucial fifth-wicket partnership of 74 nullified the efforts of Namibian captain Gerhard Erasmus, who had top-scored with 52 and claimed figures of two for 29, leaving Namibia at 155 for nine.

USA Stuns Pakistan in Super Over Thriller

The United States enjoyed a historic day in cricket by defeating Pakistan in a Super Over upset. Both teams finished their 20 overs at 159 runs each in their Group A match in Grand Prairie, Texas. In the Super Over, the USA posted 18 runs, benefiting from wides and overthrows, against veteran bowler Mohammad Amir. India-born paceman Saurabh Netravalkar then held his nerve, restricting Pakistan to 13-1. Pakistan needed seven runs off the last ball, but Shadab Khan couldn't manage the required six, leading to wild celebrations among the USA team and fans.

Captain Monank Patel, whose 50 anchored the USA's innings, expressed immense pride in his team’s performance. "It's a huge achievement. For us to beat Pakistan, we are playing them for the first time, I am just so proud of how we played. It was a proper team effort from first ball until the last," Patel said.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam acknowledged his team's shortcomings, stating, "We didn't capitalize with the bat and they took a lot of momentum. We weren't up to it in the first six overs with the ball as usual, not taking wickets again. But credit to USA, they performed so well today. They were better than us in all aspects of the game."

The USA's historic win follows their recent 2-1 one-day international series win over Bangladesh, marking a significant milestone in modern American cricket. Both teams will next face India in New York, with Pakistan playing their arch-rivals on Sunday and the USA taking on India on Wednesday.
