Poland's Iga Swiatek continued her dominance at the French Open on Saturday by defeating Italy's Jasmine Paolini 6-2, 6-1 in the final, securing her third consecutive Roland Garros title.

World number one Swiatek overwhelmed the 12th-seeded Paolini, who was appearing in her first Grand Slam final, in just 68 minutes. This victory marks Swiatek's fourth French Open title in five years and her fifth Grand Slam win overall, including her 2022 US Open triumph.

Swiatek joins an elite group of women in the Open era who have won the Coupe Suzanne Lenglen four times, alongside Justine Henin, Chris Evert, and Steffi Graf. "It's amazing to be here. I love this place. I wait every year to come back," Swiatek said, reflecting on her journey which included saving a match point against Naomi Osaka in the second round.

The victory also makes Swiatek the third woman to win the French Open three years in a row, a feat last achieved by Henin from 2005 to 2007, with Monica Seles also accomplishing it in the early 1990s. At 23, Swiatek's four Roland Garros titles match the number Rafael Nadal had at the same age.

For the 28-year-old Paolini, it was a disappointing end to an otherwise impressive run in Paris. Ranked 15th in the world, Paolini had never advanced beyond the fourth round in a Grand Slam before this tournament. While she fell short in the singles final, Paolini and her doubles partner Sara Errani still had a chance to win the doubles final on Sunday.

Paolini congratulated Swiatek, acknowledging the difficulty of facing her on this stage. "I have to say congratulations to you, Iga. I think to play you here is the toughest challenge in this sport," she said.

Swiatek's relentless form was evident throughout the match. She quickly overcame an early break from Paolini, responding with a dominant performance that left her opponent struggling. Swiatek's powerful play and Paolini's increasing errors led to a straightforward win for the Pole.

Swiatek's impressive streak at Roland Garros continues, extending her unbeaten run at the tournament to 20 matches. Her victories this year include titles in Madrid and Rome, contributing to an 18-match winning streak.

Despite a scare against Osaka in the second round, Swiatek's resolve only strengthened, propelling her to the final where she dispatched reigning Wimbledon and US Open champions with ease. Her commanding victory over Paolini underscores her status as the preeminent player on clay.

Swiatek's performance in the final was reminiscent of Justine Henin's 2007 triumph, where Henin lost just three games against Ana Ivanovic, coinciding with Henin's fourth Roland Garros title in five years.
