After the current campaign, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp plans to retire. After taking over as Reds manager in October 2015, Klopp's contract was set to expire in 2026.

The German told the Liverpool website, "I told the club already in November," the BBC reports.

"I know that many people are shocked to hear this news for the first time right now, but I can definitely explain it, or at least try to," Klopp remarked.

"I adore everything about this team, the staff, the city, our supporters, and this club in general. My favorite things are all together. I adore everything. However, the fact that I am still going with this choice indicates to you how certain I am that it is the right one.

The fact is, I'm, how shall I put it, exhausted. Naturally, I have no issues at all right now. I have known for a while that I will eventually need to make an announcement, but for now, everything is perfect. I am aware that I am unable to complete the task repeatedly.

"The respect and love I had for you grew over the years we spent together, the time we spent together, and the things we experienced together, and the truth is the least I owe you," the speaker said.

Since Jurgen Klopp took over in 2015, Liverpool has won the Club World Cup, the FA Cup, the EFL Cup, the Champions League, and the Premier League.

At the end of the season, Pepijn Lijnders, Peter Krawietz, Vitor Matos, and assistant manager Pepijn Lijnders will all step down. Lijnders is eager to pursue a career in management.
