The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 will be relocated from Bangladesh to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The tournament, originally set to take place from October 3 to 20 in Bangladesh, will now be held in Dubai and Sharjah.

In a statement, ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice expressed regret over the change of venue, acknowledging the efforts of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to host the event. However, travel advisories from several participating countries made it impossible to proceed with the tournament in Bangladesh. Despite the relocation, the BCB will retain hosting rights, and the ICC looks forward to bringing a global event to Bangladesh in the near future.

Allardice also thanked the Emirates Cricket Board for agreeing to host the event on short notice and extended gratitude to Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe for their offers of support. Both countries are set to host ICC events in 2026.

In related news, ICC Chair Greg Barclay has informed the Board that he will not seek a third term and will step down when his current tenure ends in November. Barclay was appointed as the Independent ICC Chair in November 2020 and was re-elected in 2022.
