Following thrilling turns and turns in the SAFF U-19 Women's Championship final match, Bangladesh and India have been crowned joint champions.

After extra time, the tiebreaker ended in a draw, therefore the match umpires used a coin toss to declare India the winner. The Bangladeshi team, however, voiced their displeasure with this choice.

As long as there is a tie, sudden death shall continue in accordance with the tournament rules. But when the sudden death score was equal at 11-11, Sri Lankan match commissioner De Silva Dylan made the decision to toss.

At the time of the toss, Bangladesh did not disagree with this choice. But after losing the toss, Afida Khatun, the captain of Bangladesh, objected. The decision did not sit well with the team's coach or staff either.

Bangladesh protested that the match commissioner chose to use a second sudden death, which India found objectionable.

India objected to the match commissioner's ruling and departed the field. As per the regulations, Bangladesh was to be crowned the winner if India failed to return to the field on time. The referees did, however, consider both teams to have won jointly.
