Sept 23, V7N- Carlos Alcaraz secured Team Europe's 13-11 victory in the Laver Cup by defeating Taylor Fritz 6-2, 7-5 in a tense final match on Sunday. Alcaraz's strong performance, especially in the first set, helped Team Europe clinch their fifth Laver Cup title.

Alcaraz expressed his happiness after the win, acknowledging the team's effort, saying, "We came here as a group, all of us to win the Laver Cup... it was a really tough one... we almost lost."

Team World, captained by John McEnroe, had seemed poised for victory on Saturday after Ben Shelton and Alejandro Tabilo defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas and Casper Ruud, giving them an 8-4 advantage. However, Bjorn Borg's Team Europe mounted a fierce comeback on Sunday, with Alcaraz and Ruud winning a crucial doubles match against Shelton and Frances Tiafoe to narrow the gap to 8-7.

Though Shelton extended Team World's lead by beating Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Zverev’s thrilling win over Tiafoe kept Team Europe alive, setting up Alcaraz's decisive triumph over Fritz.
