Sept 24, V7N - An MRI on Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold's left knee returned negative, and reports on Monday indicated he is not expected to miss any games. During the third quarter of the Vikings' 34-7 victory over the Houston Texans, former Minnesota pass rusher Danielle Hunter was penalized for roughing the passer after hitting Darnold's legs. Although Darnold left the field briefly and appeared to be in pain on the sidelines, he returned after missing just one play, with Nick Mullens temporarily stepping in.
Following the game, Darnold told Pro Football Talk that his knee was fine but declined to elaborate. The 27-year-old threw for 181 yards and four touchdowns in the win, pushing the Vikings to a 3-0 record. In his first season with Minnesota, the former No. 3 overall draft pick has posted a 67.9% completion rate, amassing 657 yards, eight touchdowns, and two interceptions. The Vikings will face NFC North rivals, the Green Bay Packers (2-1), this Sunday.
