Sept V7N - X-rays on Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert's ankle came back negative following his team's 20-10 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to an NFL Network report on Monday. Herbert will be monitored throughout the week as he deals with soreness from a previous high ankle sprain, which had already affected his status leading into the game.

Herbert left the field in the third quarter after experiencing increased discomfort and was later seen wearing a walking boot. He did not return to the game, with backup quarterback Taylor Heinicke taking over and completing 2 of 2 passes for 24 yards. However, the Chargers were unable to score again after Herbert's exit.

Before leaving the game, Herbert had completed 12 of 18 passes for 125 yards and a touchdown. In total, the 26-year-old has thrown for 399 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception over three starts this season. Despite missing practices due to his injury, Herbert started the game but remains a question mark for the Chargers' upcoming matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs (3-0) next Sunday. The Chargers currently hold a 2-1 record.
