Chinese tech giant Huawei continues its momentum in the smartphone market with the launch of its latest handset series, the Pure 70 series, following the success of the Mate 60 series. The company unveiled two models, the Pure 70 Pro and Ultra, which went on sale on Thursday, drawing crowds of eager customers to flagship stores in Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen. Online sales were equally brisk, with sets selling out within a minute.

Similar to the Mate 60 series, the Pure 70 series features Huawei's proprietary chips, though slightly trailing behind the cutting-edge semiconductors used by competitors like Apple and Google. Despite this, the Pure 70 series offers competitive performance at a starting price of $760. Additionally, Huawei announced plans to release two more models, the Pure and Pure Plus, further expanding its lineup.

Local media reports suggest that Huawei's success in navigating the US ban on manufacturing handsets with its own chips has contributed to its resurgence in the Chinese market. Research firm Counterpoint indicates a 64 percent increase in Huawei's sales in China compared to the same period last year, while Apple's iPhone sales have experienced a corresponding decline. Analysts interpret this trend as a shift in market dominance, with Huawei gaining ground over its competitors.
