California, Sept 8 V7N – Apple is preparing to unveil its latest iPhone, featuring the highly anticipated A18 chip developed using Arm’s cutting-edge V9 chip design, according to a report from The Financial Times on Saturday. The tech giant is expected to debut the new iPhone during its annual fall event on September 9 at its headquarters.

The new A18 chip, built on SoftBank-owned Arm’s V9 architecture, marks a significant development in Apple’s ongoing partnership with Arm, which supplies the intellectual property behind most smartphone processors globally. The partnership was solidified last year when Apple signed a deal with Arm extending their collaboration well beyond 2040.

Arm’s V9 chip design has already proven to be a game-changer, accounting for 50% of smartphone revenue as of July. Apple leverages Arm’s technology to craft its custom chips, not only for iPhones but also for iPads and Macs.

Apple and Arm have a long history, dating back to 1990 when Apple was one of the founding partners of the company. While the partnership began with Apple’s Newton handheld device in 1993, which used an Arm-based processor but failed commercially, Arm's energy-efficient chip design has since revolutionized the mobile industry, powering most of the world's smartphones due to its low power consumption.

With this new iPhone release, Apple continues its legacy of pushing boundaries in chip technology, ensuring higher performance and energy efficiency for its devices.
