Dhaka, Sep 18 (V7N)- Six more dengue-related deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 119 this year, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

During this period, 865 new patients were admitted to hospitals with dengue fever. Of these, 251 were hospitalized in areas under Dhaka North City Corporation, and 142 in Dhaka South City Corporation.

Currently, 2,460 dengue patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the country. Since January 1, 2024, a total of 21,079 dengue cases have been recorded.

In 2023, dengue claimed 1,705 lives, making it the deadliest year on record for the disease in Bangladesh. The DGHS registered 321,179 cases and 318,749 recoveries last year.
