Dhaka, Aug 15 (V7N) – BNP leaders commemorated the 81st birthday of former Prime Minister and party Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, highlighting her lifelong struggle for democracy. The event, a Milad and Doa Mahfil, was held at the BNP central office in Nayapaltan on Friday morning.

Speaking at the event, a senior BNP leader said that Ziaur Rahman had restored democracy in place of BAKSAL, and Khaleda Zia later fought to uphold democracy against military dictatorship. “This time too, democracy will be re-established under the leadership of BNP by removing fascism,” he added.

The leader recalled Khaleda Zia’s repeated imprisonments, solitary confinement, and mistreatment that brought her to the brink of death, emphasizing, “No one has the power to kill the one whom Allah protects.”

He urged party leaders and activists to work to win the hearts of the people and warned against any actions that might create dissatisfaction or fear among citizens.
