Oct 07,V7N- A significant explosion occurred on a road near the airport in Karachi, Pakistan's largest city, resulting in the deaths of two Chinese nationals, as confirmed by Beijing's embassy on Monday.

The blast, which was heard around 11:00 PM local time on Sunday, was attributed to a "tanker" explosion on the airport motorway, according to the regional government of Sindh province. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a separatist militant group, claimed responsibility for the attack, stating they targeted a convoy of Chinese engineers and investors returning from the airport.

The Chinese embassy described the incident as a "terror attack" on personnel associated with the Chinese-funded Port Qasim power project, noting that the attack also left one Chinese national and several Pakistanis injured. In response, the embassy urged Pakistani authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure the safety of Chinese citizens and projects in the country.

The BLA has a history of targeting Chinese nationals, arguing that local Baloch communities do not receive a fair share of the wealth generated by foreign investments in the region.Despite the attack, Pakistan's Civil Aviation Authority reported that flights from Karachi were operating normally and that investigations into the explosion were underway.
