Madrid, Oct 12 (V7N) — Following the lead of French President Emmanuel Macron , Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has also urged the international community to cease all arms sales to Israel , in an effort to halt the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

Speaking on Friday, Sanchez emphasized that stopping arms exports to the Netanyahu administration is crucial to curbing the violence in the region. Spain had already taken this step last year, suspending all arms supplies to Tel Aviv in October 2023 . Additionally, earlier this year, Spain officially recognized Palestine as an independent state, further solidifying its stance on the Middle East conflict.

Sanchez stressed, "Given the current situation in the Middle East, it is imperative that the international community takes responsibility by halting the export of arms to the Israeli government." His call echoes similar statements made by Macron , who, on October 5 , advocated for an arms embargo on Israel during an interview.

These remarks come amid growing international concern over the escalation of violence in the region and reflect a broader push for diplomatic efforts to address the long-standing Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
