New York, Oct 16, (V7N) - The New York City Fire Department has closed "A Haunting in Hollis," a popular haunted house in Queens, citing multiple safety violations.

During an inspection, the Bureau of Fire Prevention found serious hazards, including illegally constructed staircases, blocked exit routes, and removed fireproofing materials. FDNY Commissioner Robert Tucker emphasized public safety, stating, “We want everyone to enjoy Halloween, but that is a death trap.”

The haunted house, in operation since 2002 and featured on a 2021 episode of "The Nick Cannon Show," announced plans to reopen by October 18. In an Instagram post, the business apologized for the inconvenience and assured customers it is working to meet safety requirements.

Refunds for outstanding tickets have been issued, and the ticket website currently shows no availability.

Additionally, Solainne Moncero-Tannis filed a lawsuit against the haunted house on October 2, alleging injuries sustained during a visit last year.
