Oct, 19, V7N-The political action committee (PAC) funded by Elon Musk to support Donald Trump's re-election campaign is facing challenges in its door-to-door canvassing efforts in key swing states like Wisconsin and Nevada. The PAC, called America PAC, has been struggling to meet its voter contact goals, and some canvassers have reportedly inflated the number of voters they claimed to have reached. According to several sources involved in the effort, canvassers were warned by managers that they are behind on their targets, particularly in Wisconsin, where they are falling short of the goal to contact 450,000 voters before Election Day.
One canvasser, Alysia McMillan, expressed concern that failing to meet these objectives could hurt Trump's chances in the upcoming election. McMillan, who was fired by one contractor after a pay dispute, claims that field organizers informed canvassers that they were underperforming. She is speaking out to ensure the issue is addressed to avoid potential wasted resources and lost opportunities.
Similar issues were reported in other states. In Nevada, Musk aide Chris Young reportedly traveled to audit canvassing numbers after concerns arose that some workers were falsifying data, while managers fired canvassers who were caught using apps to fake their locations and activities.
Despite these challenges, a representative from America PAC stated that the group is on track to meet its targets. The PAC, largely funded by Musk, has been focusing on mobilizing "low propensity voters"—those who might support Trump but may not vote unless personally motivated.
America PAC has ramped up efforts to hire more canvassers, offering higher wages of $30 per hour to boost recruitment. However, difficulties with retaining workers, low pay at some contractors, and logistical issues have complicated their voter outreach.
