New York, Nov 06 (V7N)— In the latest development of the U.S. presidential election, Republican candidate Donald Trump has clinched victory in Pennsylvania, one of the critical swing states. With this win, Trump now holds 266 electoral college votes, just four shy of the magic number of 270 needed to secure the presidency.
According to reports from CNN, Trump’s victory in Pennsylvania, which carries 19 electoral votes, brings his tally to a total of 266, while his opponent, Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, has accumulated 195 votes.
Trump has already won in the swing states of North Carolina (16 votes) and Georgia (16 votes), bringing his electoral votes to 247 before the Pennsylvania victory. As the race continues, Trump remains ahead in all remaining swing states, including Wisconsin, where he leads by more than 4 percentage points with 90% of the votes counted. If Trump wins Wisconsin's 10 electoral votes, his total will rise to 276.
The seven key swing states—Georgia, Arizona, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Nevada, North Carolina, and Wisconsin—have played a pivotal role in shaping this election, with their electoral votes deciding the outcome. Trump's path to the presidency is now clearer, with only four more electoral votes required to officially reach the 270-mark needed to become the 47th President of the United States.
Election results continue to roll in from these closely watched states, but Trump’s commanding position in several key battlegrounds has solidified his lead in the race for the White House.
