Washington, Nov 07 (V7N)— President Joe Biden has extended congratulations to Donald Trump on his victory in the US presidential election, according to a White House statement issued Wednesday. Biden reportedly called Trump to discuss the transition process and invited him to the White House.

The Republican campaign confirmed that Trump was pleased with the call and expressed interest in meeting Biden soon. Biden is scheduled to address the nation at 11 a.m. local time on Thursday.

Traditionally, the outgoing president invites the incoming president to the White House to discuss the transfer of power. However, in 2020, Trump broke with this custom following his loss to Biden, choosing not to attend Biden's inauguration on Capitol Hill.
