Jammu and Kashmir, Nov 29 (V7N) – A 5.8 magnitude earthquake struck the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday afternoon, according to a statement from the National Centre for Seismology (NCS). The earthquake occurred at 4:19 PM local time, with tremors felt across the region.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located 209 kilometers deep in the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border area, at a latitude of 36.49°N and longitude of 71.27°E. Despite the tremors being widely felt in Jammu and Kashmir, there have been no reports of fatalities or damage to property thus far.

As of the latest reports, no significant damage has been reported from any part of Jammu and Kashmir. Local authorities and emergency services are monitoring the situation closely, but the earthquake's depth and location have likely reduced the impact on the region.
