Delhi , Dec 22 (V7N) – Schools in Delhi have been instructed to identify illegal Bangladeshi migrant children, with a directive in place to withhold issuing birth certificates to such individuals.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) issued guidelines to all zones to take necessary measures to remove encroachments linked to illegal Bangladeshi migrants.

Deputy Commissioner B P Bhardwaj, in a statement, said, “The education department is directed to take preventive measures to identify illegal Bangladeshi migrants during school admissions. Additionally, a proper identification and verification drive should be undertaken to recognize migrant children in municipal schools.”

The MCD further instructed its public health department to ensure that no birth certificates are issued to illegal Bangladeshi migrants. "The department must take precautionary measures during birth registrations and undertake verification drives to identify certificates issued to illegal Bangladeshi migrants," the statement added.

All zones have been mandated to submit an Action Taken Report to the deputy commissioner (HQ) every Friday by 3:30 PM without fail. Heads of schools are also required to submit their reports by December 31 for review by higher authorities.
