Iran has executed a spy believed to be working for the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad, following their involvement in a drone attack on an Iranian defense ministry workshop. However, the identity of the spy remains undisclosed.

Reports from Iran-based media outlets, Iran International and Perstoude, indicated that the Mossad operative was executed on Sunday. The attack in question occurred in 2023 at a workshop of the Iranian Ministry of Defense in Isfahan, where several small drones were deployed. Despite the attempt, Iran successfully thwarted the attack using its air defense system, managing to neutralize one drone and tactically destroy two others.

Head of Isfahan's judicial department, Huzzatul Islam Jafari, revealed that following the failed attack, the Mossad agent fled Iran, concealing their identity. However, after 13 days, the terrorist was apprehended in a neighboring country with the collaborative efforts of Iran's judiciary and security forces.

Details regarding the country of refuge and the circumstances of the spy's capture were not disclosed by Tehran.

Upon arrest, the spy underwent trial through the country's judicial system, ultimately receiving a death sentence.

This incident adds to Iran's longstanding hostility towards Israel. Throughout this year, Iran has executed several individuals suspected of espionage on behalf of Mossad.

In February, Iranian authorities announced the identification of tens of thousands of Mossad agents operating in 28 countries across Asia, Africa, and Europe. However, Iran has yet to disclose any planned actions against these alleged operatives.
