Moscow, March 13, (V7N) – The Kremlin has confirmed that US negotiators are traveling to Russia to present their proposal for a 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine, as Washington seeks to de-escalate the ongoing conflict.

This development follows Kyiv's agreement to the US proposal after discussions held in Saudi Arabia earlier this week. However, Moscow has requested that the US provide detailed information regarding the ceasefire plan before indicating its acceptance.

"Negotiators are flying in, and contacts are indeed scheduled," stated Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

While Peskov did not disclose the composition of the US delegation, the White House had previously announced that US President Donald Trump's envoy, Steve Witkoff, who has served as a mediator in both the Gaza and Ukraine conflicts, would be in Moscow this week.

Peskov also revealed that Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov had held a phone conversation with US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz the previous day.

Russia has expressed its desire for sanctions to be lifted as part of any ceasefire agreement, citing the negative impact on its economy.

Peskov reiterated Moscow's position that the sanctions are "illegal" but refrained from providing specifics regarding potential discussions on this matter ahead of the negotiations.

"Let us not get ahead of ourselves," he cautioned.

The upcoming talks represent a critical step in the efforts to achieve a ceasefire and pave the way for a lasting resolution to the conflict in Ukraine.
