Yangon, June 30 (V7N) — Belarus has supplied advanced air defense systems to Myanmar’s military junta to help counter growing drone attacks by anti-junta resistance forces, according to Justice For Myanmar (JFM), a prominent human rights watchdog. The organization cited leaked documents as evidence of deepening military cooperation between the two regimes.

JFM reports that Belarus’s state-owned defense company, Belspetsvneshtechnika, is actively developing and delivering air defense systems specifically designed for Myanmar. The systems include V3D radar command technology and ground-based missile systems, equipped with "Panorama Automation" and "Vostok 3D radar" components. These technologies enable automatic target identification — particularly effective against unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which are increasingly used by Myanmar’s resistance groups.

The leaked communications also reveal that Myanmar junta officials are undergoing specialized training in air defense technologies at the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics. The purpose of this education program is to strengthen the junta’s ability to produce weapons domestically, particularly in arms factories located in Naypyidaw and Mandalay.

The disclosure has raised concerns among rights groups and international observers, who see the cooperation as a sign of expanding authoritarian alliances that may further destabilize the region and exacerbate the Myanmar crisis.

Justice For Myanmar continues to urge international action against both regimes for their role in fueling repression and militarization within the country.
